Dear Forum,

Please help!
I have recieved a letter from Atos to attend a medical but am confused as to why?
I am not on benefits, came off I/B approx 6 months ago,can anyone shed any light on this I am confused and a little worried.
It says your appointment is with a healthcare professional,it says we have been asked by the DWP to carry out an assessment in relation to your benefit claim.
I t also contains a booklet WCA AL1C entitled" About your face-to face assessment".
If this is in connection with ESA I have not applied for any benefit.
Just wanted your advice before contacting them.

Thank-you in advance.

Did you formally close your IB claim or let it lapse due to your not returning the ESA50. If the latter, then it is possible that the DWP have continued with the transfer process despite it's absence, this can happen in specific circumstances.

If it is still your intention not to claim ESA then I would recommend that you write to the DWP office dealing with your claim to terminate it.

Dear Gordon,

Thankyou for your speedy response.
No I did not fill in the ESA50 as I came off benefits before it was due to be returned.
I phoned up several times to close down claim, but it wasnt actioned for some reason( even though it was noted) until I formally put it in writing.
I then recieved a formal letter saying it was closed after recieving my correspondence, that was about 5 months ago.
So is this letter in connection with ESA migration from I/B?
Im confused, should I ring to clarify this,or best to put it in writing?
Does this also mean that they may have contacted my doctor with an ESA113? request.

Thank-you

Yes, it sounds like they are continuing with the transfer process to ESA.

I would initially contact them by phone but then follow up any conversation in writing.

It is possible that an ESA113 was issued, the only way you will know is to contact your GP.
