Hi, I'm back I dug out the letter I got from jobcentre plus in March of this year and it has muddied the water somewhat. It lists as follows.
Living expenses
Limited capability for work addition
Extra money because you are in the support group
Which gives a total income related amount
Income and benefits
No income will be taken off your ESA
Your income-related amount is less £0.00 so you would have been entitled to
However because you are entitled to contribution based ESA we will pay you
So from reading this I no longer know whether I'm on income related or Contribution based or a mix of the two! What I do know is I have not worked due to my health for 21 years and started on Invalidity Benefit then Incapacity benefit and my pension was not affected during that time.

OM

If you were receiving IB with no Income Support top-up then you would have been transferred to ESA(CB) without any ESA(IR) and possibly a Transitional Payment to make your ESA up to the previous IB amount, if applicable.

Thanks Gordon, on page one of my letter from jobcentreplus it does say "you have been entitled to a transitional addition since you were moved from Incapacity Benefit"
