DLA - DWP texts was created by MyHipsHurt
Hi, I've just sent off my renewal for DLA and have received a text from the DWP acknowledging receipt and stating that it could take up to eleven weeks for a decision. They stated they would keep me informed by text. Just wondering how much information they will send via text and will they text me the outcome before I receive the decision letter? Is this a new way of communicating for them? Last time I applied (two years ago) everything was done via the post. I think I quite like it, but am not sure if I could take bad news via text. Anyone have any experience of them texting and what sort of information did they text?

It is all part of the new "caring" DWP :(

You will certainly receive further texts in regard to the status of your claim, it is not impossible that they will also notify you of the result via a text as well, however, this does not remove the responsibility on the DWP to provide the Decision Notice in writing.

If the texts are a problem you could write to the DWP asking for all further communication to be in writing.

Thanks for your reply Gordon. At first I was quite pleased with such a fast response as I know they'd only received my pack the day before, as I'd tracked it, but am now constantly checking my phone, whereas normally I'd have the mindset to wait a few weeks before hovering over the letterbox. It's all a bit too 'instant' and quite impersonal as there's no-one to respond to - it comes through without a number, just 'DWP' has sent you a text...
