i am on low rate mobility mid rate care dla and esa CB
Been eligible for severe dis premium but been too unwell to apply

qu 1 if i send back the esa 3 i have got, will they put me on IB ESA or leave me on CB?
Had been worried re pension contributions so was going to ask to stay on CB ESA.
.
I may wish to claim HBen soon so will that be the deciding factor as am undecided yet whether to apply as my housing circs are complicated..

I understand the main issue re going off CB is that if i do do any permitted work, it will mean I cant keep any money whereas on CB I would be able to..
So if I go onto IB ESA now, can i revert to CB ESA at a later date as currently have no permitted work set up and this may take time
Need to send form off tomorrow Please help!
all the best

The ESA3 form is to see whether you are entitled to an income-related top up of your beneift. If so, this automatically entitles you to other things (such as free prescriptions). This has no effect on your NI credits. You should ideally get individual advice from someone who understands the system as it is not straightforward.

I don't know the answer to your question about Permitted Work, I will leave this topic 'unticked' so that another mod can comment.

Mina

As far as I am aware the rules for Permitted Work are the same for ESA(CB) and ESA(IR).

If you are considering PW then you have a good think before proceeding, whilst starting PW should not affect your ESA, check with the DWP that the work qualifies, you need to be aware that the activities that undertake as part of your PW will be considered in any future assessment, so as a trivial example; if you take a job delivering mail on foot and qualified for your ESA through the Mobilising description there may be issues.
