Standing and Sitting Q in ESA form was created by Montoyer
Hello,

with regards to the standing and sitting question, if you state that to do the washing up or cooking you lean on the work surfaces/sink or perch on a stool. Are you pretty much saying that you can stand at a work station and "perform any useful function at the workstation" and therefore fail to score points in this part?

Also why do you advise in the guides to say in the 'Use this Space' box how far/long you can do something if you've already ticked the corresponding box? I'm not talking about adding further information, which I've done, but repeat in writing what box you ticked?

Thanks.

The Standing and Sitting question takes into account your ability to stand and sit at a workstation, so using your washing up example, any time you spend standing at the sink and any time spent perching or sitting on a stool will be added together to give a total time, which will then be used for the test.

The reason it suggests you include the time is to avoid debate as to how restricted you actually are. For example if you can only stand and sit for a total of five minutes then you would obviously tick the less than 30 minutes box, but if you provide no further information you are leaving the ATOS assessor and the DWP Decision Maker to decide whether you actually meant 29 minutes or some lower value. If you specify the time then it is clear as to what your limitation is and there should be no debate.
