DLA reconsideration delays was created by Leste
Could anyone give me some indication of how long a DLA reconsideration would take? I submitted my original application for DLA at the beginning of April this year with all supporting evidence. Already in receipt of ESA WRAG. DLA rejected in late June. Applied for reconsideration as rejection was purely based on ESA WCA decision made June 2012. DM had not considered all the supporting evidence that I had enclosed in the DLA application. In the middle of August received letter that a decision had not yet been received as they were awaiting for reports from my GP and also my Consultants. I telephoned both of them and was told that the DWP had not requested this information. Its now 4 weeks later since DWP informed me that they were waiting for these reports. Could you please advise me of what the DMs tatics are in these delays ?

There is no specific timescale for a Reconsideration although most are around 11-13 weeks.

I do not think that there are any "tactics" in the delays, the DWP is over loaded and Decision Makers are being moved off of DLA and re-trained for PIP and of course there is the general incompetence of the department.

As you have not spoken to them for four weeks I would give them another call and ask what is going on with the GP reports.
