disregarded payments was created by funkylad
Hi i would just like some information about ESA (cont) and a ocupational pension that i was left by my late partner.
I have searched the net for some infomation and as far as i can tell its says " Any payments in DMG 44717 are known as survivors benefits and should be disregarded in full. My wife was alot older than me im 39 now, the pension was handed down to me by the trustees and i only get 50% of what its worth a month. I was getting esa. extra money cos im serverely disabled and extra money cos of the disability guarantee plus money for being in a support group.
my esa money was meant to be in the bank yesterday but wasnt, so i gave the dwp a call and was told it has been stopped as im getting a ocupational pension. And a letter is in the post to explain this..
But i was under the impression that they cant take the pension into account as it wasnt mine and its known as a survivors benefits and should be disregarded in full.
An Example i found on the esa rules " Guys wife jane is a member of a occupational pension scheme, following janes death a reduced pension payment is paid by the scheme to guy. This pension is not taken into account when working out the amount of ESA(cont) payable to guy
So why have they stopped my ESA
Please could anyone share any light on this
Many thanks

I am afraid that we cannot give such detailed personal advice on the forum, you need to speak to a trained advisor who can look through your papers and can speak to the DWP on your behalf.
Why can’t you answer a question about my specific claim?
Where to get advice?
