'change in personal status of claim'

I am absolutely amazed. I received a mass of paperwork from the benefit office (I receive ESA support group , contributory) and the lowest level of DLA mobility and care). Having floundered through the dozens of pages, I eventually gave in and 'phoned them. They confirmed that I was due a payment of nigh on £2000, because they had not taken into account the ESA support component, nor the enhanced disability premium. I must confess that I was concerned that they were asking me to repay £2000.
Have the rules changed? I was under the impression that there was no premium for the support group or for DLA? Any advice most appreciated

Hi a,

As you will see from the FAQ below :

ESA Premiums

There are 4 different premiums that are payable with ESA.

As you are only in receipt of LR Care DLA, this does not give you any entitlement.

However, you are entitled to The Enhanced Disability Premium (EDP) if you or your partner are placed into The SG, on that point alone.

To receive all or part of The EDP, you must also be entitled to payment of IR ESA, as all the premiums mentioned in the FAQ are paid in the form of an IR ESA top-up.

Currently, the full EDP is £15.15/Week, and The SG Component is £34.80/Week, this would be paid in addition to your Personal Allowance of £71.70/Week for a single over 25 :

2013 Benefit rates

The above may be variable depending on your individual circumstances.
