Being sent an esa form to complete was created by jewells1806
Hi everyone, now it's my turn to be assessed. I currently receive incapacity benefit and DLA indefinitely but have just been contacted re ESA form being sent out to me. I'm really worried, I have multiple sclerosis and know that I will be assessed for PIP in 2015 but if I don't get the ESA support group I'm worried that it will affect my entitlement to DLA/PIP.
I am dreading having to complete the form ir sounds so long and fatigue is a big problem for me with MS as it affects my thinking and everything. If anyone has any suggestions or tips about the form I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi Jewells,
ESA and DLA/PIP are different benefits with different criteria, although they do overlap in several places.
The best advice I can give is that you should make full use of our ESA guides (using the guidance for the 'new' forms). Decide which criteria you think apply to you and relate your application directly to these. You might want to use the PDF computer form as it can make things easier and it means that you have everything ready for next time too (you should expect reassessment anything from 3 months up to 3 years).
ESA claims and appeals
How long do I have to complete the ESA50?
Qualifying for the WRAG
Qualifying for the Support Group
Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire
It is unlikely that DWP will contact your GP so you should include any evidence you have with the claim form. It is vital that the form is returned on time, you can send evidence in later if it is not available in time.
Adding pages to your submission
Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS
Here is a short-cut to our IB/ESA conversion FAQs

I appreciate that this is a lot to take in. I suggest that you bookmark this topic, or make it a 'favourite' on your web browser, so that you can find it easily in future. Please come back to this topic/thread if/when you have any further questions

Hi J
When you are filling in your form explain your limitations and restrictions of the condition more than the condition itself
Use reliably, repeatedly, and safely and also for the majority of the time
If you are a substantial risk to your health by carrying out tasks say so
