hello all
when you have been found fit for work and appeal ESA do you get the assesment rate £71.7 a week
Also do you have to take part in any work related activity if your appealing a fit for work decision or do they leave you alone whilst you are appealing the fit for work decision
thanks

Hi Gazzmg,
Once your official appeal has been received, and you have provided 'fit notes' for the relevant period, you will be paid the assessment rate of ESA. As you are not being paid the WRAG component, you will not be required to participate in any Work Related Activities.

Hi Gm,
As an add-on to MHB's good advice, if you are to appeal the fit for work decision using The GL24 Form which can be downloaded from the link on this page (from around page 20 of the document) :
How to submit an appeal
From our :
Appeals FAQ’s
I would gain the MED 3 (fit note) from your G.P. ASAP, you need it to cover you from the active date of the fit for work decision, and the first two MED 3's cannot be for longer than 3 months each in duration, after that it can be for 6 months or longer.
The reason that you should obtain it ASAP, is that some G.P.'s are reluctant to back date MED 3's to a time before a consultation, such a consultation can include a telephone consultation with your G.P..
Once you have the MED 3, you should send it to The DWP with The GL24. (keep copies of both)
Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS
There is also an ESA Appeals Guide on this page :
