ESA queries

From what you say, I agree it is unlikely they will entertain back pay ;it wouldn't amount to much anyway, but I didn't think there was any harm in asking. One good point is that he completed an ESA3 in advance of his Contributions Related ESA finishing and is now receiving Income Based ESA, plus, as he is now in the SG, EDP on top. Every little helps.

Elston wrote: Thanks Gordon. It's a difficult one really as he was originally put in the WRAG in July last year, upon migrating from IB. We notified DWP in February of this year of the change in my son's circumstances, ie the deterioration in his condition and he was requested to complete an ESA50. It was following this that he was confirmed as still being in the WRAG on 30 April and it was only after the intervention of Welfare Rights that they treated it as an appeal and placed him in the SG.

Based on your latest post I agree with Mrs H, there should be back payment to April, this will be paid separately from the change in weekly rate, so if this has only just started payment then the back payments should follow shortly, if he has been receiving the SG rate for several weeks, then you should chase the DWP for the outstanding monies.
