Therapeutic earnings

Can anyone remember the date when the old therapeutic earnings changed to permitted work?

I'm afraid that I don't know. Perhaps one of the other mods will see this and be able to help.

It was from 8 April 2002. This is the standard letter that was sent to all claimants on therapeutic earnings. Sorry, I cannot find any links which now work.

REPLACING THERAPEUTIC WORK WITH NEW PERMITTED WORK RULES
FROM 8 APRIL 2002.

I am writing to tell you about new more flexible rules for people who want to try some paid work while they are getting Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement Allowance, National Insurance Credits or Income Support because of illness or disability. The new rules will replace therapeutic work from 8 April 2002. Please read the enclosed factsheet for more details.

If you are doing therapeutic work now or you have recently stopped doing it, please fill in the form we have sent with this letter. Send it to the office that deals with your benefit. The enclosed factsheet explains what to do.

The factsheet is also available in large print and audio cassette. You can get a copy from the office that deals with your benefit.

Added information. If you google 'when did therapeutic earnings replace permitted work' then choose the ninth in the list' PERMITTED WORK - Rightsne't, that explains things in detail. Sorry I couldn't link to Rightsnet as it opens in a .doc
