atos

hi can anyone help me, I just filled in the form for transition from ib to esa, when I posted it I noticed it was being sent to atos, am I wrong or is it atos that assesses, if you must have a medical, surly this does not make sense because if they get paid for medicals then they will do their best to make that happen???, am I missing something?, I am more worried than ever.pixie, by the way thanks so much for all your help along the way and through the years.

Yes the ESA50 Questionnaire is returned to ATOS.

ATOS are contracted by The DWP to carry out all medical services with respect to The ESA WCA.

Once ATOS have the ESA50 they will then decide whether or not a face to face assessment is needed.

If they feel that you have provided enough evidence, they can simply assess you on the paper evidence alone.

Once they have compiled a medical report, (which will include recommendations with regards to your capability for work, or work related activity)whether as the result of a face to face, or on a paper assessment alone, they return your file to The DWP Decision Maker who will then make a decision taking into account the ATOS medical report and all other evidence that they have.

The DWP DM will then inform you of the decision.

The DWP DM has no medical qualifications, and applies the ESA legislation taking into account the medical evidence.
