IB to ESA was created by david
Hi, just become a member. I was awarded DLA in 1998 high rate mobility, middle rate care both indefiinitely and I was awarded SDA in 1997 until my 65th birthday. I have now been told I have to go on to ESA. Will I automatically pass over, or will I have to attend more medicals. Can anyone help with this query? Thanks, David

Hi david and welcome to the site. This will help you find your way around
Welcome to Benefits and Work
The routine for IB to ESA migration is - 1st a letter telling you that the process is soon to start, 2nd a phone call explaining the process and dealing with any questions you might have (you don't have to take this call, things will continue whatever you do), 3rd you will receive an ESA50 form to complete, it must be returned within 4 weeks. After this, some people have a decision made on the paperwork alone, others have to attend face-to-face assessment first.
Now that you have been told that the process has started, it might gain you some extra time if you start completing the PDF version of the form and assembling your evidence now.
Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire
Make good use of our guides and FAQs
ESA claims and appeals
ESA FAQs
IB/IS/SDA transfer FAQs
It would be a good idea to bookmark this topic, or make it a favourite on your web browser, so that you can find it easily in future. Then you will be able to come back and ask further questions and we will have everything in one place

As far as I am aware, david is our first member in receipt of SDA to begin the migration process over to ESA.
The DWP stated at the beginning of the migration process circa March 2011 that SDA recipients would be migrated over to ESA, last.
