At this time we have had no feedback from members going through the PIP claim process, so we cannot offer any advice at the moment, in fact, I would ask you to come back to the forum after you have had your assessment to let us know what happens, if you feel up to it.

One document you can have a look at is the PIP Assessment Guide, this is aimed at assessors, the face to face assessment is covered in section 2.6 onwards.

www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/upl...assessment-guide.pdf

As a general note I would treat it in the same vein as an ESA assessment, so you should expect to be asked how you got to the centre, they will take account of how you coped with the waiting room, questions may be off subject, for example the "do you watch TV question", so think before you answer, they are not trying to trick you but there may be implications that are not at first obvious.

Best of luck

Gordon

PIP medical was cancelled due to a one hour wait and there was eight patients waiting to be seen so it worked out at two hours so I now have a new appointment at the end of this month just another month to worry about now, there was a patient who was on her third appointment and she also decided to leave so thats four trips to a PIP medical for her.

My contact at the DWP advises me that many PIP medicals have to postponed, because ATOS do not have enough doctors, plenty nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists, but more PIP claimants will need to be examined by a doctor than was first envisaged.

From Steve's last Newsletter :

Although the decision, which was highlighted on Rightsnet for welfare rights workers, relates to ESA there is no logical reason why similar arguments cannot be employed in relation to PIP, where a very similar points based system is in place. This could pose a massive problem for Atos whose successful bid for the PIP medical assessment contract stated that they would be using the following health professionals:

933 physiotherapists
373 nurses
75 occupational therapists
19 doctors.
