does receiving an appeal decision, favourable or adverse, reset the ESA medical assessment period, or does the pre existing one apply. is it the case that individuals may undergo a tribunal hearing or receive a tribunal decision and face an ESA medical assessment around the same time? thank you.

The reassessment period is dated from the original (appealed) decision. Claimants were getting a new ESA50 shortly after a favourable tribunal decision. As a result of this the tribunals started setting a length to the award. However, this is only advisory and indications are that DWP are ignoring this when they chose to do so.
