Had some great news today and wanted to share! Thanks to your DLA Guides for Children, we’ve just received notice that our Medium Rate DLA with Lower Rate Mobility, has just been increased to Higher Rate DLA with Low Rate Mobility. Yay!

My 10yr old daughter has high functioning autism, a sensory processing disorder & a mild speech & language disorder so the communication element on the DLA form is every bit as difficult to complete as it is crucial to her claim.

Faced with the huge and new DLA form, I was sorely tempted to simply copy our old form, send that off, & just hope for the best. With all the changes since our original claim, we might have been very lucky to keep our original claim (assessed at Medium Rate with Low Mobility). It doesn't bear thinking about if our claim had been unsuccessful.

Your step-by-step guide made sense of the whole daunting form by breaking it down into manageable pieces. It is said the secret of consuming an entire elephant is by eating it a single bite at a time. By just doing a little bit each day, even just a short section or two, we got it done and in plenty of time before the claim renewal date.

Please accept our heartfelt thanks for all the information, for the Guides (updated along with the forms), for the encouragement in the newsletters & forums, and just for caring enough to share it all with those of us helping our loved ones.

That's fantastic news! My (just) 7 yr old grandson has high-functioning autism too, and has similar problems. He has very weak muscles too, his grip is poor and he cannot write yet.

My daughter has recently separated from her husband as he was unable to cope with his own son!

I will be using the guides as I intend to complete most of the DLA application form for my grandson.

That is one of my tasks as soon as Christmas has been and gone. :woohoo:
