Is this the same case in England as it is in Northern Ireland? They won't inform you over the phone?

I have requested my GP's report and have been told by DLA that if my GP wants to write a letter with more supporting evidence they will look at it again.
Heres some of my problems I have:
I informed DLA that my CPN was providing a letter but they made the decision before it was on the system.
Also my GP had my DLA forms since the end of Feb and only filled them out at the end of May after numerous calls, letters and reminders from DLA and peeved off calls from me. I am actually quite close to my GP and we get on well BUT I know she sometimes rushed things and when I see the report and she has not filled it in appropriately I will hit the roof. I think this is the case as the letter DLA send mentioned that I had no problems with walking, making dinner, dressing.... which is wrong and everyone knows it (medically speaking)
I did go through CAB to fill out the forms but being honest I would have been better doing it myself and referring to the info on here as the CAB guy was a bit useless and didn't know the certain wording to use so I told him. Thanks to benefits and works I know some great terminology now
Trying to look on bright side and not let it all get me down or I will end up going loopy again as with ESA.
Thanks for all the wonderful help x

Well I got my letter yesterday, a big fat no. Slightly devastated but I do know people fight for years to get a DLA award so not letting it get me down as yet.

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your disappointment.
I think you may know what your options are now regarding either a reconsideration or appeal. If not see here for details:

It maybe worthwhile as well as asking for your Doctors letter, to ask the DWP for the Statement of Reasons which should show how they came to the decision not to award DLA.
There is help in the guides in the members area regarding appealing and you are free to obtain face to face help from a different source if you have little confidence in the CAB adviser.

Just noticed what you have advised Victoria here and you say that she could ask the DWP for a Statement of Reasons to show how they came to the conclusion not to award DLA.
Is this possible in all refused applications for DLA, that is to say if I get refused once they have completed their deliberations, prior to my appealing to the First Tier Tribunal, I could ask DWP for a SOR regarding the refusal to award me DLA?
Have I understood correctly or maybe not?
Cheers
Bill
