Yes. They usually send you a reminder letter just a few days before your sick note expires (which isn't much use), so it's best to send in a new one before the old note expires.

Your benefit can be delayed if it is late.

Okay thanks, I'll get a new one when I see my doc next week, that way it will be sent off in good time.

Hi Pusscat, it's worth asking your doctor for a new fit note but just to be aware, they don't like writing them before the current one is just about to run out.

Hopefully your doctor wont be as fussy as the ones I have seen!

I'm afraid I always tend to leave things to the last minute; I've never been in a position to ask my doctor for a sick note in advance.

To be honest, I am usually like that, look at my appeal info! Just that I've been going to the doctors a lot and always ask!
