benefit fraud?

Pat you said Jim was reported....maliciously, we,ve had the same, and more than once. Its a malicious neighbour we think. Even the dwp man said to go to the police, as they send us anonymous nasty letters re disability.
Im on antidepressants had a breakdown over it and they still send letters and report, it started years ago, when we had a mob car.

I think if the fraudline is 95% malicious calls, its not worth the public money spent anyway.

I dont think people should get away with maliciously reporting etc, but I expect nothin would be done.

Personally, I don't think that members of the public should be allowed to report claimants anonymously, they should be required to identify themselves.

Of course this will never happen, despite the fact that 95% of anonymous calls
prove to be without any foundation, as we were told by the Customer Compliance Officer who travelled around an 80 miles journey to interview Jim.

How much must these allegations cost the DWP, or should I say taxpayers.

If a claimant wilfully tells lies in order to gain a benefit that aren't entitled to,
they face prosecution. So why should members of the public be allowed to lie through their teeth, without any fear of any comeback.

Thats the way the law has always been in the UK, just like some people claim rape and are never charged .... the system of phone calls to report people has been used for many things from DLA income support fraud all the way to terrorist phone number in NI going back to the 70s

I know the feeling as it looks like someone has reported me for fraud for my DLA. I wish I didnt need it but I do. The form has to be back by the 28th January. I have got someone coming on Monday to fill in the form.

I am asking my doctor to refer me to specialist clinic as I may have Hypermobilty Syndrome which would account for many things that dont fit fibromyalgia.

It's no wonder this is happening when we have a benefit fraud hotline for members of the public to use and politicians constantly tell the public that the majority of people on disability benefits are undeserving and therefore benefit fraudsters.

I too was reported for fraud (presumably by a jealous neightbour) who said I had a blue badge and mobility car to which I was not entitled and that I took 5 or 6 longhaul holidays per year! The compliance lady was very (deceptively) friendly..(i'm assuming her charm could have twisted if need be?). I showed her my benefit award which had just been reviewed about 6 mnths before and found correct to justify the first question. Regarding the holidays, I explained 'lomghaul' in my mind would be somewhere like Dubai and beyond..Asia, Australia...Who would make such a long trip for a weekend? You would go for at least 3 weeks a month at a time..which means to do this 5 or 6 times a year, your away on holiday every other month!! And...if that was the case..where were all the (non existent) immigration stamps I would be expectd to have in my passport from all these foreign non EU shores? Needless to say, the complaint was dismissed as groundless.
I also think anonymous calls shouldn't be allowed. The caller should be identifiable...and if their claim is found correct they get the reward..if their claim is found to be malicious...they should be prosecuted for wasting time and alos mde ot pay all costs!!
