Hi all - I have ESA WRAG for six more months or so, but because of the harsher tests blog post, am already trying to figure out what might happen if I were turned down AND lost on appeal. I'm not being pessimistic, just a realist after all the warfare against disability benefits.
I know it's a while in the future, but the benefits adviser tool on the direct.gov site keeps telling me I would get income support, not JSA. Why would this be? I'm 56, so does age affect the requirement to look for work? They seem to have a category for people who are disabled but can't get ESA. I thought IS was only for lone parents etc
I don't know what grounds you might be awarded IS on either. I'm reluctant to suggest that the DWP software has got it wrong, but there are other benefits calculators, such as www.entitledto.co.uk that might be worth a try.
Do let us know if you get a solution to this.
Good luck,
Steve
