Universal Credit Claim Review was created by Michala
Hi there,
It has been sometime since I last posted, which was concerning my PIP appeal. This has since been reviewed again and I was successful in having my claim maintained, without having to even request a mandatory reconsideration. It was extended until May 2027.
However, I have received notifications through my UC Journal that my UC is being reviewed. A telephone call is scheduled for Monday 27 October.
The journal entry reads as follows:
"We have rescheduled the appointment upon your request. We are reviewing your Universal Credit claim to make sure your payments are correct.
The review is to make sure that your claim information is correct and that you are receiving the right payment and support.
We will call you on 27/10/2025 to discuss the review and what happens next.
I have a few questions if anyone is able to assist me, please?
1. Are you able to advise me about what this telephone call is likely to cover? What I mean by this is, will this likely to be a medical questionnaire type conversation?
2. Would it be worth querying on the Journal what the content for telephone conversation is likely to be?
3. Would it be worth me having my up-to-date medical letters, test results, etc to hand?
Having given this some thought, I don't believe that this has been reviewed since I was transferred from ESA following the birth of my son in 2019. Although, I do still receive ESA, which is deducted from my UC claim.
I just need to try and be prepared because unfortunately I find such telephone calls very stressful and my MH is already not in a good place. I have not only had to find the strength to challenge the DWP but also the university I was attending. Unfortunately, this remains a significant challenge too, so it looks like instead of gaining an MSc I am likely to be an advocate for disabled students instead!
Anyway, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Best wishes,
Michala

Hi Michala
There is nothing to worry about as this is going to be a standard claimant review that applies to all UC claimants annually. Automated claimant reviews started this summer and I have included the press release below. They have nothing to do with the health assessments for UC or ESA or PIP so you don't have to answer any questions regarding health issues.
The DWP is introducing Automated Claimant Reviews which requires Universal Credit claimants to review, confirm, and if necessary, update their circumstances, to ensure that entitlement remains accurate.
Claimants will receive a ‘Check and Confirm Your Details’ task in their UC account. This provides a summary of their declared information, which they must confirm or update. If details have changed, claimants will be guided to provide the correct information from the relevant date. Completing this task accurately is essential to avoid any disruption to payments.
If a claimant does not complete the task, their payments may be suspended and their claim closed. Notifications will be sent (by text, email and in the individual’s UC Account) when the task is created, with reminders at days 8 and 12, and a final warning on day 15 if payment is at risk of being stopped. Claimants have until their next payment date (around five weeks) to complete the process.
The initiative began on the 16th July and is being rolled out in phases, with 7,000 cases scheduled to participate in this process every two weeks on an ongoing
Let me know how you get on.
