Universal credit migration was created by chicken007
I receive enhanced rate of PIP and also receive carers allowance for my husband who has multiple neurological disabilities. He needs 24 hour care which I share with carers and nurses. I am capable of giving this care as it doesn’t involve anything physical. Carers do the physical part and I support him with his blindness and confusion. I read to him, fill in forms, reassure him and help him with his medication etc.
He receives ESA and is being migrated to UC.
I am filling in the online form and have a question about what to put about myself. It asks about my health and if I am capable of work. I want to just continue caring for my husband and receiving the carers allowance.
I appreciate that I have to be truthful and say I am not well but I am now very concerned they will make me get fit notes from my GP and go through medical testing from them and they will say I have to claim the sickness part rather than carers allowance. Is this likely to happen?
I appreciate any advice.

Hi chicken007
Your fears will not be realised.
You will have a joint UC claim with your husband. You will be invited to take part in the UC Health Journey which starts with providing Fit Notes. However you can just send a reply to the invitation in your UC Journal stating that you do not want to participate in the Health Journey or provide fit notes. You may get a reply that you will lose the Work Allowance but that is not relevant in your case.
I would also remind the UC agent that you receive Carer's Allowance.
Let me know how you get on.
