hi all
I sent my review form back re. no changes, back in august 2025 I received a text to say it had been received.
on Thursday of last week I had a text letting me know the dwp where progressing with my claim and that I may still need an assessment, I then had a text yesterday morning to say a decision had been made and i should receive a letter in the next 2 weeks, is it me, or is this strange, I've not even had an assessment, how can they make a decision either way.
I was advised not to ring them till I've had the decision letter, has anyone else had this?,
Im really not sure what to make of it.

There are four types of PIP assessments - Paper-based, telephone, video or face-to-face. You have had an assessment - they have done a paper-based one. The language they have used is standard practice and nothing to worry about. They often say a claimant might need an assessment and then do a paper-based one. The only difference you will find is that you won't be able to get a report on how they reached the decision, as they seem to have stopped writing them since the pandemic. I know of a couple of people who have put in an SAR (Subject Access Request) to see if there were any notes made - I think one person was successful with this.
