Migration to Universal Credit ID checks was created by Millie73
Hello!
I Amin the process of ESA/PIP migration to UC. I submitted my claim on 11 July. I had to reschedule my first phone ID check appointment because it was in the afternoon and I can only really function in the morning. At the phone call appointment I was expecting it to all go through easily but was told I needed to make an appointment at Job Centre as the ID check had been unsuccessful (the man on the phone told me that 95% of ID checks do not go through over the phone!). I felt really flustered as I had no idea I would be asked to go to the job centre and I ended up settling on a date which is just before I go away to see family (in UK). I get very stressed with going away (fatigue due to my illness- Multiple Sclerosis- and anxiety that that brings on) and so I have decided to cancel the appointment. I have been told I can't arrange an appointment whilst I am unwell and need to get back in touch with them when I feel better to arrange a new appointment. My fear is that this delay in my ID check is going to affect my payments On my Gov.Uk online info it says: on 13 August 2025 we will tell you how much you will get
on 17 August 2025 you will be paid any money you are entitled to
Does anyone know whether these dates will be stalled because I have cancelled my ID check which was due on 22nd July? I plan to rebook a new appointment as soon as possible.
I cancelled the appointment due to stress and now I think I am stressing myself out more by worrying that my claim is going to be affected!
Thank you or reading this convoluted message!

Hello Millie,
Sorry to hear you have been unwell. Unfortunately, if you don't verify your ID in time, UC wouldn't be able to make your first payment and so there could be delays. The UC etc (Claims and Payments) Regulations indicate that you have a month to supply information from the date it is first requested - see www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2013/380/regulation/37 - so it's important to keep communicating with them about any delays to avoid a negative decision. As you have already noted, really the priority is to rearrange the appointment to verify your ID and, fortunately, you still have time to get this sorted before your first payment is due.
Best of luck
