66th Birthday, ESA and Pension was created by Glen49bc
I am hoping you can put my mind at rest. I am/was in receipt of ESA, which finishes when retirement age arrives. I was 66 the other day and expecting my last ever ESA payment on Monday 23rd June. Nothing came through.
I thought ESA was paid in arrears, so surprised with no payment. I haven't had a letter from DWP explaining future or this non-payment. I have tried and tried to call DWP to confirm everything is correct or not - 4hrs total waiting for an agent to speak to me to date! My 1st Pension payment is going to be made 14th July.
I am concerned this is quite a while to wait since my previous ESA payment was paid on 9th June to the 14th July when I will get my first Pension payment.
Does this seem correct to you please? Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Glen49bc
I know that there are different ESA payment cycles and it may not be in arrears and I obviously don't know yours.
Maybe other Forum members can describe their experience on reaching State Pension age.

You can ask to have your pension paid weekly instead of monthly in arrears.

You can ask for your pension to be paid weekly instead of every 4 weeks in arrears.
