UC Migration + ESA Contribution Based was created by BlueMoose
So, I thought my UC Migration went ok, although I was left on ESA Contribution Based and I am in the ESA Support Group. I thought they had made a mistake, but no apparently, you get this indefinitely if you are eligible for the Support Group, and migrated from Incapacity Benefit.

Now, I have got a letter from the DWP, telling me: "Your contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)will change to New Style Employment and Support Allowance (New Style ESA) from ***insert date***

The letter then goes on to say...

"We will contact you to book an appointment that you must attend. This will be with a work coach from your local jobcentre and may take place over the telephone or face to face. Your work coach will explain what you need to do to complete your
New Style ESA claim. They will create an agreement with you called a'Claimant Commitment'.

The letter also goes on to say the work coach will discuss my reasons for not working etc.

Absolutely not happening, I am not attending any job center, as someone disabled who can barely walk, this is not an option. I thought migrating from ESA to UC, meant this did not happen?

I intend to write to the DWP about this, as it's left my head spinning.

Hi BlueMoose

You can send a Journal Message to the Work Coach stating that as a Support Group claimant you don't have to attend the Jobcentre but that you will agree to talk to the Work Coach over the phone about the New Style ESA claim.

Let us know how you got on.

I thought given it was New Style ESA it was not connected to UC so, I couldn't ask a question in the journal.

It is all confusing. I have now put a letter together to send in the post on Monday.

Hi BlueMoose

It will be a Universal Credit Work Coach who will phone you regarding the New Style ESA claim not a staff member of the ESA section. The DWP is in a process of transformation. So I would send a UC Journal message as I expect your letter will never reach the relevant person.
