UC 'calling in the next few days to discuss making a claim'. Is this usual? was created by wibblum
Hi,
I've got an ESA>UC migration deadline of June 6th. I'm intending migrating/making my online claim this Friday (May 30th) to maximise my remaining ESA entitlement while still remaining within a safe time limit (and even then I believe I'll still have a 'final' final deadline that stretches to the end of June?). I have everything set up and ready for this, I've done a practice run with CAB's version of the claim form and had no problems with it, so it should be a quick and simple enough process (aside from me having no photo ID which I'll have to deal with when it becomes an issue).
This morning (May 27th) I received a text from DWP that reads: "Universal Credit will call you in the next few days about making a claim. The number we will call from is 0800 169 0328."
Is this usual? Has anyone else had one of these? Can I just ignore it and proceed as I intended?
I'm autistic with sensory perception issues (which makes telephone calls very difficult) so I really don't want to have to speak to them unless I absolutely have to. As reluctant as I am to 'migrate', I do have this process carefully mapped out now and I don't want to be pressured by them into changing at the last minute or doing anything I'm not ready for.
Thanks in advance.

Hi wibblum
I would send a UC Journal message asking firstly if this is a genuine call and secondly for further communication tot be made via the UC account.

Hi, I waited till the deadline to submit my migration claim also, and got a message like this a little before the deadline. They did call and it was very quick- they asked if I had understood I needed to claim and if I was OK to do this or if I needed support to do it over the phone. I said I was prepared and planning to submit on the deadline date and they were satisfied with that.
I don't know what happens if you speak to them and say you plan to go over the deadline date, but I hope it's helpful to know my experience.

I planned my migration for 6 days before the deadline. Roughly 10 days before the deadline UC started calling my landline, I was unable to answer due to health reasons, but went ahead with my migration as planned, the UC calls stopped after that.
