I submitted my fit note a few hours before my appointment, which covers a period of five days. This is the third time in a row I’ve done this, and there were no issues on the previous occasions.
However, I’ve received a message from Universal Credit saying:
“Go to your list of to-dos and complete the ‘Tell us why you missed your appointment’ to-do. You have until 26 May 2025 to do this.”
The reason I missed the appointment is due to ongoing gut issues, which the Jobcentre is already aware of—this is why I visited the doctor and obtained a fit note.
I am, of course, going to explain the reason for missing the appointment, but could I please have some advice on the do’s and don’ts, so I can avoid being unnecessarily sanctioned?
