Utter confusion

Hello everyone,

I am sorry to have to ask this -
I have PIP and was on irESA.
I did the Managed Migration using the excellent guides here, but I have hit a few snags.

1) As I understand it, my irESA payments get paid only once more after I have claimed UC.
Therefore, are they in error to state that they have deducted my irESA due to ‘continuing to claim’ it?

2) Do I really have to inform the irESA/carers allowance people that I am now claiming UC? Isn’t it within their own department and shouldn’t they be doing it themselves?

3) since the payments section was updated yesterday, and the claim was done on the 3rd of April, is it correct that all the payment information is showing last years amounts, and has not been updated to show this years amounts?

4) Will number 3 now show as a reduction in the transitional protection section?

As I said, sorry if this all seems really easy to everyone else, but I am struggling. Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you for reading. I hope you all have an awesome evening/day/etc., and a huge thank you to benefits and work!

Kind regards, Em

Hi Emanie

1. You have a 2 week run on of ESA after the start of your UC claim. Any further payment of ESA would be in error.
2. You should not have to inform ESA about a new UC claim.
3. Some Benefits don't get the inflation uprate until after the 10th April.
4. Yes there will be a reduction in the TP.

Thank you David.

I think that doing a reconsideration is in order, but to be fair, I won’t get paid until tomorrow so I am still unsure what to expect.

It is possible, but unlikely IMO, that the DWP will have rectified the irESA error themselves…

Thankyou again!
