Bedroom tax when moving to UC

Bedroom tax when moving to UC was created by Happypants
I currently have my full rent paid by the council as I have a spare bedroom that is needed for overnight care on occasions (an on high rate PIP) The council said it's not a discretionary payment, they just pay the full rent. I'm concerned about what will happen when I move to UC - will the transitional protection include this extra amount or will I have to apply to the council for a discretionary housing payment?

Thank you

Hi Happypants

You are fortunate in that you don't get help with the rent via a DHP as it would not be included in the Transitional Protection.
There is nothing to stop you from applying for a DHP in the future.
Hopefully the UC Decision Maker won't be difficult regarding the Bedroom Tax exemption.

Let me know how you get on.
