If Migration from ESA Support Group

Hello, I’m in the support group of ESA and have received my migration notice. Could you please answer the following questions.

1. When you move over do you have to go in to the job centre and sign a commitment agreement, if so should you and would you need to provide fit notes?

2. Are you automatically placed in the lcwra or do you have a wca ?
I’m confused as someone said that as your switched over you still need to go in.
Any replies would be great thanks

Hi S123

They will try and get you into the Jobcentre as evidenced by our Forum members. You have to remind them via a UC Journal message that you are in the Support Group and ask for a telephone appointment.
You don't need Fit Notes and you should be transferred straight to LWRA.

Let us know if you have issues.

Hi S123,
I read the superb guide about UC migration and read the forums as I awaited the letter to come and it did. I even practiced doing the mock form. I felt really reassured as I was dreading it all. The reality is my benefits were going to be stopped in 3 months or 2 weeks from when I press 'submit' for the claim form. I bit the bullet and was glad I did. I already was in the support group having had a wca ages ago. Apparently i'm told a banner appears on their screen alerting them to the fact you are in the support group. By the time you have done your claim you would know. The claimant commitment would not mention any work related activities only that you must check your to do list and report changes. That was the commitment that I received and simply clicked my acknowledgment. Also when you state you are on ESA in the form, you are told you don't need fit notes. I also passed the online verification with a passport and credit reference. They use transunion as the agency for the file as I had to agree to sharing hmrc with them. I was dreading failing that as I did not want to visit the jobcentre or have a phonecall or home visit. You can also make use of citizens advice at any stage of the process as they support you right up until your first payment. You get a reference number so they will know your case to date. The only thing I had to upload was my tenancy for housing cost. 4 weeks have passed and I have had nothing in my to do list. So far its all gone smoothly. I did get an esa payment after my 2 weeks. I called dwp and they said it was new style contributry esa and uc will be a topup which ties in what others have said on here.

Thank you and another question is do you get the LCWRA with your UC or is there a delay? As I read somewhere that it could take 3 months, I’d really struggle without this. I get SDP and just hope the transitional payment is equal to what I get.
Sorry for the questions it’s I’m petrified of how I’ll mange as I’m also on HB and hope I get that too.

Sorry forgot to add, if your on IR ESA there should be no claimant commitments and if part of it is contribution based it’s the new style esa, would there be claimant commitments to be signed and if so is there anything I should be aware off what not to do?
Thanks and so glad this forum is here

Hi S123

If there is a break min your claim from going from ESA support to UC then you have to go through the assessment period. If you are in the support or WRAG then you should go straight over to LCW/LCWRA.
