i have recieved a Universal Credit Migration Notice last week i am currently recieving ESA its the national insurance contribution type it says on a letter i got, the migration notice says my income based ESA will stop are these the same thing in a recent article on this platform it said that one of the ESA types will not have to move to UC i was under the impression i was on that one (i'm no expert). i wouldn't put it passed them to try and trick people into applying for UC knowing full well once you have applied for UC you cannot go back to ESA. has anybody else had this happen to them? i will be taking this up with the citizens advice people but thought it would be a good idea to post it on here first, thanks for any help.Andrew
You can phone up the ESA department and ask them if you currently receive Contributions Based ESA. If so that will carry on after Migration to UC but will be called New Style ESA. Yes it is a good idea to use the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service and their phone number is on page 2 of your Migration letter.
