ESA support group to UC was created by Cats20
I have just applied to migrate from the support group to UC today and they have sent me on the journal.

Some benefits can affect how much Universal Credit you receive. Our records show that you are not getting any of these benefits. Benefits that can affect Universal Credit are: Jobseeker's Allowance Employment and Support Allowance Carer's Allowance Carer Support Payment Maternity Allowance Bereavement Allowance (including Widowed Parent's Allowance) Widow's Pension (including Widowed Mother's Allowance) State Pension Incapacity Benefit Severe Disablement Allowance Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit If you are actually getting one or more of these benefits, you must contact the office you claim them from. Tell them you're now getting Universal Credit and to update their records.

I get ESA so do I have to contact the office to tell them, or will it be done automatically? Also they sent me one about backdating my claim, but I am worried that if they do that I might be overpaid with the cross over of ESA. Do I need to do anything or does it all work itself out and I should be overpaid?

You made your Universal Credit claim on 7 April 2025. We have backdated the start of your claim to 20 March 2025. This is because you claimed Universal Credit within 1 month of the deadline on your Migration Notice. Your first payment for Universal Credit will cover 20 March 2025 to 19 April 2025. This should reach your account around 26 April 2025.

Replied by David on topic ESA support group to UC
Hi Cats20

No there is no need at all for you to inform the ESA section which is part of the DWP of an action by UC which is also part of the DWP. More misinformation from the DWP !
