I’m so sad unable to sleep or function. I’m desperate, scared and tearful. My brain has gone out of control I’m in flight mode. I never thought I’d write this on an open forum but yesterday my review came through and I didn’t score any points. I’ve been on pip for approximately 3 years due to depression, anxiety, dysthymia and many attempts on my own life. Review was postponed due to backlog, I was on standard living allowance. On the day of my review my partner and my mum were present and they supported me. I was also diagnosed with Trigeminal neuralgia in August 2022 which was a new condition to add to my current conditions big impact on my daily living and then 2 weeks ago I got vertigo. Actually writing this down has started to calm me down. My head has been pounding with all my bad thoughts since yesterday on how to not be here anymore. Sorry for sounding weak but I’m desperate and having got no strength to fight this decision my partner keeps telling me it will be ok but I’m screaming inside and feel helpless that £290 a month is a godsend and they’ve stopped it. I haven’t got the energy or strength to fight I’m so sad any help please

Hi Teresa lowe
I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment and how it is impacting you. I'm glad you have your partner and mum for support. You are not weak at all - no one who's trying to battle the DWP system, feels good about themselves.
I'm sorry to hear that you don't feel well enough to put in for a mandatory reconsideration. Is your partner able to have a look at our guides and help you?
In order to put in for an MR you have to do it within four weeks of the date on your decision letter. If you can't meet that deadline, you have another 12 months in which you can put in a request for a late MR. If you can't do it now, I would write to the DWP and say that you are too ill to put in for an MR at this moment, but you will later request permission to put in for a later MR. That way it is already on record if you feel ready to do it in the future. If you never do it, it won't matter. If you have already said how ill you are, it will stop them from refusing a late mandatory reconsideration if you choose to put one in.
