Thanks Chris.
OK, that makes sense. I just can't seem to find out whether a working partner means that you can claim, but it wouldn't be worth anything, like in the days of ESA. As I remember, any income from a partner would wipe out any ESA payments, is that the case with UC as well?
I just did that calculator, and told it the disability stuff, but it just came up with child benefit and £4.63 of UC per month. It didn't mention PIP. It also asked about our child, who also has a disability and didn't mention anything about that either. Not sure what to make of that.

It's OK, I did it again on a desktop computer and I could see the breakdown, thanks.

Hi user,
Okay, me personally, I would give them a call and explain to them exactly what the calculator said and that it didn't show you other payments which you expected to be included. If no joy, I would maybe try citizens advice and ask for a finance specialist to help.
Honest with Employment Support Allowance, I'm not overly sure - this benefit isn't really my area of expertise.

Brilliant!
Hopefully it's helped clarify the uncertainty. It can be such a complex process when it comes to finances.

What the calculator didn't tell me, is that if we were to get the LCWRA group payment, is that also deducted from your partner's earnings or is that like PIP and not means tested? Sorry if this is an obvious one.

Hi user,
Yes LCWRA is means tested as it is Universal Credit - however I'm not overly sure on the rules when it involves a couple - I would imagine it's different because the UC rate is different for a single person, compared to a couple - however with this government, you never know. It could be where the rules are the same when it comes to savings. I have checked online and it seems the savings rule is the same if you are single, or a couple - which to me is crazy, especially when the amounts differ, but this seems to be this country all over.
