I'm always very careful about informing the DWP and always by letter so that it's on the record. However, I never receive a response. I understand that if you're on contribution-based ESA unearned income, isn't taken into account. I asked over the phone some time ago and at that time they said that it was excluded. But I don't know whether that has changed and whether I should be declaring any interest or rental income, however small. Do they specify anywhere, just to put my mind at rest? (I feel a bit afraid of them, if I'm honest).
