PIP review 9 months early!! - in the middle of UC Migration was created by Cosmos
My current award was in place until 16 October 2025, yet today, 17 February 2025, I received a text notifying me that my review has already begun—nine months early.

My last review took 2 years to resolve and the Medical assessment with Capita was 3.5hrs long. My MP & GP requested a Light touch 10 year review as my previous award had been 3 years, instead they shortened it by a year to 2 and are contacting me 9 months early.

I am extremely stressed in the middle of a migration to UC from ESA support group and won't know the results of that until 7th March or start receiving funds until 11th March - now out of the blue this 9 month early PIP Review! I understood that they may request an ESA medical review despite not having one due however I never expected an early PIP Medical Assessment as the 2 are unrelated. (The previous process too longer than the time I've been receiving it).

Please help, how do i stop them initiating this prematurely? the stress is impacting my mental health, I was already struggling with the UC migration process impacting my health but had piece of mind knowing I had PIP. Now everything is uncertain.

  			 				Hi Cosmos

I'm sorry you are facing migration and a PIP review. Unfortunately, this happens to a lot of people. I'm afraid that you are mistaken in thinking that you have been reviewed early. Review forms are typically sent out up to 12 months before the end date of an award. If your end date is 16 October 2025 - you could have been sent a review form any time from November 2024. I know it's really hard - but that is the system.

You can try contacting the DWP and asking for your review to be delayed - but I don't know whether they will agree - especially when you are close to the end date of your current award.
