Questions regarding a telephone assessment for ESA.

I've been given 10 days' notice of a telephone assessment for ESA. I have two questions in regard to this 'assessment':

Can I request an in-person face to face assessment instead? I have many concerns regarding this being held over a telephone.

Can I rearrange the appointment? It occurs the same week as a Work Coach meeting.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Cal7

You can ask them to change the assessment type - it will depend on whether there is an assessment centre near you and the availability of assessors if they will agree.

You can change the date on one occasion - but if you needed to change again - it won't be allowed.

Thank you for replying BIS.

Can I phone them to make a request for face to face? Would I have to give reasons? Is there any resources on how to go about this?

In the event they agree to face to face, am I then stuck with that date, or can it be rearranged?

Hi Cal7

Yes, you can contact them to request a face to face assessment, the contact t number should be on the information they sent you.

You can cancel an assessment date once as stated in BIS's post

Hi Gary,

Thanks for replying.

I could have made my last question more clear.

What I meant to ask is this. Will the 'right' to cancel an assessment date be carried over to the face to face so that I can rearrange that once, or does cancelling the original telephone appointment (to have a face to face instead) count as a once and only cancellation? I'm concerned the face to face (if I get it) might be a date I'm stuck with.

I hope that's clear.

Thanks.

Hi Cal7

When you contact to change your appointment to a face to face, have a few dates and times in mind that fit within your requirements.
