  			 				Hi,
I was forced to migrate to UC from tax credits. It's been a horrible and stressful process. With your support and guides I have successfully be awarded the LCWRA. Thank you so much!!!!
I am also on enhanced PIP. I do work, self employed, when I can and have one dependent. I'm single.
DWP have just informed me that my transitional protection will now be reduced by the amount of £416 LCWRA, leaving me effectively no better off! Is there anything I can do to challenge this?

Thank you!

  			 				Hi Lesley,

UC was created with the intention of reducing the Government's Benefits Bill. Unfortunately your experience is indicative of that. Most increases in the UC Standard Allowance following Managed Migration are not passed onto the claimant and instead erode the Transitional Protection. There is an easement for changes that take place during the first month. Do you know the exact date you were awarded LCWRA ?

I hope you don't mind me hooking into this post...
I've just read it with alarm.

Would someone mind clarifying for me please?

I currently have transitional protection of £275 which is added to my standard allowance of £393, which is a monthly total of £668:

If I'm awarded LCWRA after my WCA and receive the extra £416 what would I then be left with?

Would it be £416 less the £275 TP and thereby reduce the extra £416 down to £141 and that then added to the standard allowance of £395 meaning my UC would then become £534 per month instead of £668?

Or: would it be even worse than that so that the remaining £141 would reduce my money down each month to only the standard amount of just over £393?

Or: would I just lose the TP of £275 but then get the extra LCWRA £416 added to my standard allowance of £393 making my monthly payment £809? (oh, I do so hope it is this one!)

Thank you kindly for any help.

  			 				Hi TMD

You ask a very good question.

Your last paragraph is correct, your TP would erode to nil and you would receive the LCWRA element on top of your Single Standard Allowance.

Thanks for that Gary, it's reassuring. Sorry, I thought I'd replied and thanked you already but just seen that I hadn't!
