migrating to UC50 return 4 days ago 1st class tracked delayed was created by deb10
I returned UC 50 health assessment form 4 days before the deadline, 1st class 24hr tracking. Deadline for returned form is today and seeing on tracking ID it's still in the post office system. I rang the UC who said my claim could/would be stopped if they did not receive it by deadline. She gave me one more day to see if post office delivers my form. She was unable to say if I would lose my migration protection from my working tax credit disability element. I have proof of postage/tracking ID.

Hi deb10,
The DWP have huge postal hubs with hundreds of items being delivered daily. Royal Mail fully tracked is usually very reliable. The online tool should tell you the current location of your letter in the UK. It should be delivered today. Let me know if there are any problems with the DWP.

tnx David, I rang the UC assessment office again today, they said they had received my UC50 form but as it was one day late my claim was closed and sent to referral and that I should ring UC. I said due to the postal delay they would give me 24hr extension when talking to them the day before. He said no record was made/noted on their side. I then rang UC who said my UC50 was still on track/live.

Hi deb10,
You need to send a UC Journal message explaining why through no fault of your own the UC50 was late. From the drop down list choose Payment but copy the message before you send it. Having sent it to Payment paste the message into a new Journal entry and this time choose for recipient Service Issue. Now your message should reach a DWP Decision Maker who will decide if you have a good reason to be late.
Your UC claim is not closed down. It just means that you may have to start the DWP Health Journey ( as they say ) again.
