Face2Face Assessment With Sick Note. was created by Bluesgewehr
I have looked briefly through the past threads but couldn't see an answer, if I missed it would someone please link me. I am just filling out the UC50 (Cap.Work) form for my wife , who is incapable of doing it herself due to an SMI. When we applied for UC the GP gave my wife a 184 days Sick Note (runs until Feb'25) , my question is can DWP force her to attend a Face2Face in that period or can I simply write in the "Any dates not good for you" section of the form that she is on that Sick Note until Feb '25? Thanks in Advance for any answers.

Hi Bluesgewehr

There is no post from you in the holding pen, I have clicked on your name to see when you last made a post, it stated one week and 4 days ago about an overpayment.

When you apply for UC your claim does not go live until you have seen your workcoach and you both have signed a claimant commitment. A fit note informs the work coach you are not fit to work, it does not stop you from seeing your workcoach.

The conditions for claiming Universal Credit are set out in a "claimant commitment" that most people will have to accept at the beginning of their claim. If you are part of a couple, you will each have a separate claimant commitment that may be different from each other's.

People who may not need to accept a commitment include those who lack capacity, those who have exceptional circumstances  where it would be unreasonable to expect them to agree a commitment (this is decided by the work coach on a case by case basis), or, From 15 February 2022 people with a terminal illness and less than 6 months to live were also excluded, and from 4 April 2023 this was extended to 12 months.

There are 4 conditionality groups:

* Group 1. No work related requirements
* Group 2. Work-focused interview requirement
* Group 3. Work preparation requirement
* Group 4. All work-related requirements

Hi Gary, thank for replying but I honestly am not sure of the point you are making or how that answers my question whether someone who is on a sick note can be compelled to attend a Face to Face assessment with HAAS/Igenus. Because of my wife's obvious problems the Work Coach conducted the initial interview via telephone and my wife has only agreed to the following Commitment: "I'll sign into my account often to:

complete all activities in my to-do list
report changes to my circumstances promptly, including changes to work
If I cannot get online, I'll report any changes by calling Universal Credit."

Hi Bluesgewehr

From my understanding, a sick note says that a person is unfit to work. It does not mean that a person cannot be requested to attend an assessment. You can ask for the type of assessment to be changed from face-to-face to phone, but they are within their rights to refuse.
