Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hello.. I am in the process of migrating to UC from Income support my partner claimed for us & housing benefit.
My question is will they look at my PIP award when I go through the UC50 work capacity assessment?
My partner is in receipt of carers allowance for caring for me full time, I have given a 3 month sick note to UC and have been asked to attend a work commitment meeting at job centre 55 miles away.. I feel as if it is 2 things being true at the same time ongoing Pip award & sick note but should be prepared to job search..! So confused they are asking nothing of my partner.

Hi Devon idil
PIP is ignored for Universal Credit. Check out our guides for UC50; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa1
Due to your condition, can you travel 55 miles? you may want to try for a home visit if you cannot travel, you can contact the UC helpline; 0800 328 5644/5646/9344 for options.
As your partner is in receipt of Carers Allowance he would be placed in Group 1. No work related requirements.

Hi,
We have just gone through exactly the same situation as yours but in reverse as I am hubbies carer. I had to attend a work commitment meeting but as it was changed to a first floor office hubby didn't need to attend because he would not be able to use stairs in the event of a fire so they just called him whilst I was there to confirm his ID so maybe check out the location. access.
An appointment was also made that day for the work coach to call him a few days later, she said he didn't need any work Search requirement as like you we submitted a 3 month sick note, its important to make sure you get your next one to commence on the day after your first one runs out as any gaps in cover will cause problems
Unfortunately you do have to participate in these meetings as you have to agree the commitments In order to receive payment.
We received our 1st payment last week and have received this week the work capability form to complete so start to gather your evidence together now to be prepared.
Good Luck
