New carer's allowance claim affecting SDP transitional protection?

If someone has migrated to Universal Credit and receiving the transitional protection for severe disability premium, and a new claim is made for carer's allowance in their name, is that transitional top up removed?

I understand you're not eligible for SDP if someone claims CA in the legacy system, but I don't understand how it interacts with the new UC transitional protections for people in receipt of SDP prior to migrating.

Hi pokitoki

You are correct, if you get transitional protection due to you receiving SDP and someone claims CA for looking after you then your transitional protection will stop as you would no longer be entitled to SDP.

Always seek advice from your local Welfare Rights Organisation before someone claims Carers Allowance for looking after you.
