Hi all

Having decided to transfer from DLA to PIP, I sent in my PIP2 filled out 5 weeks ago, together with added evidence which included added info on my Asperger's diagnosis, local Care Plan assessment, and diagnosis of mod-severe depression. I am also In ESA support group.

I would be grateful if anyone could comment on the following:

Today, Fri 27th, a friend called DWP PIP help centre on my behalf. We explained the 5 week wait and was told the following, 'We can confirm that our system is showing we have all the information we need to process your claim for PIP. Your claim in now with the Case Manager. You will be informed within 2 weeks of the decision by Case Manager.'

Would I be right in saying that there are a number of possibilities here in relation to my claim. Firstly, since there is no request for additional information and the claim is in the hands of Case Manager, would I be right in saying the possibility is that within the 5 weeks I've been waiting, Atos received and have sent back there assessment to DWP. I say this because there has been no mention of a face to face, so the Case Manager may be left with the final decision.
Secondly, if the Case Manager is about to make a decision not based on face to face I can expect an award or no award at all.

Hope you can add your expertise to help me realise what may be in store.

If your file is with the Case Manager / Decision Maker then the next action is for the DWP to make a Decision on your claim, this normally takes a couple of weeks, but can be less.

There are no restrictions on the Decision that can be made following a paper assessment, unlike ESA and we have only seen a few of these on the forum so we can't pre-empt the Decision for you, but is likely to be no points at all or an award.

Best of luck

Gordon

Hi Johnny and welcome to the forum. On the assumption that you are also new to the site this link should help you find your way around.

Welcome to Benefits and Work

You are right, it sounds as if the assessor has returned your file to DWP having made their recommendation. I'm afraid you cannot draw any conclusion from this regarding the outcome of your claim, for good or bad.

I hope that you do not have to wait long for a positive decision.

Many thanks Gordon and Mrs Hurtyback for your response!

You'd never know what DWP would hit me with, but, given the additional evidence I sent, I would be rather surprised if I didn't at least get a face to face, which I was expecting.

I was quite direct and clear about my mental health issues and admitted to being able to dress myself and put a fork in my mouth so as not to contradict myself as my Care Plan assessment indicated I could eat and dress etc.
I did highlight the fact that I can't cook having been guilty of leaving the gas/oven on more than once and nearly burning the house down, so my meals are prepared for me by a friend. So, advice from me is to be careful of contradictions, like putting down you can't cook or prepare a meal only to admit somewhere else to being able to use a microwave, which I can't because I had a few accidents with that as well. Sounds comical, but there's nothing funny about PIP and I hope this whole PIP business doesn't blow up in my face. I shall try and remain positive.

Cheers

Hi again

I have just watched a heart breaking video clip of Cathie Wood describing her brothers death as a result of Atos cutting his benefits back in 2013. Mark had Asperger's and starved to death as a result of the effects the cuts had on him being able to look after himself. A disabled person in Britain in a so-called first world civilised society left to die because of his disability. It is simply unforgiveable. Mods, I didn't post the link as I was unsure of the rules regarding vids etc. But anyone can Google it .

It is indeed unforgivable and totally avoidable if a government has any compassion and respect for its vulnerable citizns.

Draw your own conclusions.
