Hello!
If I were to ask for my medical records at my GP surgery, how far back is the evidence relevant, please?
Is it a year, 2 years or longer?

I really appreciate your help!

Thank you!

It depends on the level of evidence.

If you were diagnosed years ago then that would still be relevant.
If you were proving treatments then ones that happened years ago may no longer be relevant.
As far as treaments etc go you would probably note ones for the last couple of years but it is the effects of such treatments etc on your ability to carry out activities that is the determining factor. The best rule is more rather than less. If they ignore something important on the grounds the evidence is too old you may have to go to MR or appeal to get them to acknowledge its importance to your claim.

I got this wrong. I was told from several sources that medical evidence had to be less than two years old but it does say in the PIP2 information booklet that came with the form that it doesn't matter if the medical evidence is old.

But, yeah, what Gordon said. I think if your condition was diagnosed a long time ago and iyou can show it's a long term illness then it doesn't matter how far back you go.

Hi
I've included a diagnostic letter from May 1989 to confirm one of my conditions, to show how long it's been going on. It was accepted as evidence for ESA.
