By phone or letter - contact after PIP1 applicatio

I shall be getting the help of my carer to make the phone call for PIP1 as I do not have brain strength to manage phone calls. I understand that PIP1 asks for a telephone number "where we can contact you". Would there be any problem asking them to make any further contact by letter, not the telephone?

I am thinking about the PIP2 process where they may

(1) follow up my PIP2 with a telephone call to fill in any gaps where necessary.
and
(2) Being given notice of the face-to-face assessment.

Both of these would require me arranging for my carer to be present to help me. Would they leave a message on the 'phone so that my carer could ring them back?

If things were done by letter/post wouldn't this make it more likely that there will be accurate recording of information.

Obviously I would do anything possible for the chance of a paper hearing. If, however, I am called for a face-to-face, I may well need more than 7 days notice to make sure my carer will be available to take me.

I would be very grateful for advice please.

There are a number of posts on the forum concerning phone calls from the DWP.

You are legally entitled to do everything by post if you want. They do not like it but have to do it. They will probably drag their heels and others have experienced delays in getting forms etc. but it is still your right to claim this way. Of course a paper trail provides better proof of what was said and done when.

You should get reasonable notice of your face to face. You can put on the form that you require at least seven days notice in order to arrange transport, helper etc or you could opt for a home assessment. You would need a supporting letter from your GP.
