Severe Disability Premium

Can you help me.

Can my brother who lives alone ,(receives DLA higher rate care and lower rate mobility ) is retired and on Pension Credit receive Severe Disability Premium ? No one claims carers allowance for him?

Your Brother would be entitled to have SDP included in his award if he:

receives a qualifying disability benefit (in your Brother's case, DLA) at middle or higher rate for the care component.

if no one receives carer's allowance on his behalf and

he has no non-dependant adults living with him.
