PIP MEDICAL ? was created by woodsie
Hi Guys!
A couple of questions.
I finally got my PIP medical appointment for end of this month.
With my wife's assistance (she filled in actual PIP2 form;as i was unable to see it) sent medical evidence, supporting letters,ESA85 where HCP clearly states i cant see at all and 20 thousand words of further info about how my blindness and hearing loss etc effects me. We highlighted in my responses what descriptor applied to me in each activity
Example: Reading signs,symbols and words.
Based on the evidence;i say im blind and cant read,my registration form says im blind,my GP's support letter says i cant see and the ESA doctor says i cant see at all.
What is the point of the PIP2 if they ignore concrete irrefutable evidence.
(1) Is it worth taking everything to the medical as i truly believe no one could have read it! or will they refuse to look at at on the day?
(2) What should i do if i attend and the HCP does not have my PIP2 form or has not read it?
(3)If they say they have read it.
Can i ask them questions to verify they have; for example whats my guide dogs name (mentioned about 30 to 40 times throughout my responses) or to relate a major incident in my response as this is what they are meant to be making their decision on.
Thanks for any response in advance.
Regards Matchseller.

Hi M,
The HCP is supposed to have read your PIP2 and supporting evidence before you are seen. I don't know how soon before you are seen - it could be 5 minutes or 5 days.
1) I doubt that the HCP would be prepared to read through 20,000 words on the day, even if they admitted to not having seen it previously!
2) I don't know if there is anything you could do if the HCP admits to not having read the PIP2. You would have to be incredibly careful of being judges to have refused to co-operate with the assessment.
3) The HCP will possibly have read through multiple claim forms relating to that day alone. Things, such as the name of your guide-dog, that are of utmost importance to you would be of passing interest only to them. I don't think the HCP would agree to an interrogation before the assessment went ahead.
