You can take over the claim for Carers Allowance.

You have two choices, you can mix and match but it may prove too complicated to be worth it.

(1) as you are no longer working your wife may now be eligible for an Income Related ESA top-up to her ESA(CB) this would allow payment of the Carers Premium and because your wife is in the Support Group, the Enhanced Disability Premium. Your CA would be treated as income.

(2) Your wife stays on just (ESA(CB) and you work in addition to claiming CA, you can earn up to £102/week without it affecting your CA.

In either case, you need to get face to face advice as we cannot give detailed financial advice on the forum, you need to speak to a trained advisor who can work out how much you might receive for each option, so that you can make an informed decision.
